When To Perform Pregnancy Test?

One of the most common concerns for first time mothers is to find out when to take pregnancy test. The first day of your missed period is the time to check possibility of pregnancy, if you have a regular menstrual cycle. And don’t worry if you have irregular periods or are not sure about the dates, you can perform the pregnancy test three weeks after you had unprotected sex.

Some of the common symptoms of pregnancy are a missed period, sensitive breasts, nausea, increased urination, and fatigue. And some of the other less significant of signs may be mood swings, feeling bloated, light spotting, mild uterine cramping, sensitivity to certain odors and foods, a stuffy or runny nose and constipation.

For those who’s like to double check, there are pregnancy test kits available at local chemists. But if one wants to do the check in with more privacy, there are some traditional checks using natural ingredients, that can work efficiently and with more safety.

Homemade Pregnancy Tests

  1. With sugar: Collect your urine in a bowl as you get up. Then put 1 tbps of sugar in another bowl. Pour exactly 1 tbsp of your urine in the sugar’s bowl. If the sugar gets dissolved in urine, you are not pregnant. And if the sugar gets clumps in urine, then, congrats you are pregnant.
  2. Toothpaste test: Take some white plain toothpaste in a bowl. Add urine in the toothpaste’s bowl. If the paste turns blue or frothy, then the results might be positive. But it is not an accurate test.
  3. Baking soda test: Take 2 tbsp of baking soda in a clean bowl. Add urine sample in it. Wait for few minutes. If you find fizzles in the mixture, then you are pregnant. And if not, then the results are negative.
  4. Pregnancy Kits: A number of these kits are available at the local chemist. You can use them.

However, it is best to consult with your doctor for the best pregnancy test. Because a natural pregnancy test at home does not have any scientific backing. But these can be useful when one wants to get quick checks at home without having to go to the chemist or the doctor.
