Query – Fetal Reduction, Pregnancy
A user posted a query about fetal reduction: “I m 27 yrs old recently. I have naturally conceived triplets after my first ultrasound. My doctor suggested me to do foetal reduction, and I have undergone reduction of twins. And my 1 foetus is thr growth of foetus was normal upto 22 weak and suddenly thr was loss of fluid and I was also having placenta previa, I have undergone an cessarin in my 6 th month because their was heavy fluid loss from sac.
I want an suggestion on what might be the reason for such heavy fluid loss, is it a embryo reduction or any other reason. And when should I can take next chance of pregnancy and thr any chances of repeating such complications again.
Please give me some advice over this issue.”
Dr. Samir Pawar‘s Advice:
As the patient has not mentioned whether the fluid loss was diagnosed on usg or was noticing it passing vaginally. Sometimes these problems occur without any valid reasons.
Patient has also not mentioned how her premature baby did after cs. It would be worthwhile to wait for beyond 3 – 4 months after cs.
Multifetal Pregnancy Reduction
Multifetal reduction is a surgical process that reduces the number of fetuses in a pregnancy. This is done to help improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy. The fetal reduction surgery is a safe procedure and is most often done early in the first trimester.
Please Note: It is advisable to meet the doctor in person for consultation.
